The Enid Kaplan Grant

The Enid Kaplan Grant is an annual program available to candidates from across Canada. The grant is open to any established jeweller with a minimum of a five-year history in the craft. Candidates must submit their applications for consideration and a winner will be selected by a jury of three independent industry professionals/jewellers. The grant recipient will gain full access to the facilities and equipment of Atelier Artéfact, as well as technical assistance from instructors of the Montreal Academy of Metal Arts. Financial aid is included. The program will cumulate with a show followed by a one week pop-up gallery exhibit in Montreal and will include a printed show catalogue as well as social media postings. Financial aid is included.

Enid Kaplan was a studio jeweler, sculptor and mixed-media artist who taught, lectured and exhibited all over the world. Her work, ranging in scale from 1 inch to 20 feet, has been widely published in books and magazines, and is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

 

The Incubator Grant

The Incubator Grant is an annual program open to candidates throughout Quebec, and is available to any emerging jeweller who has not yet had the opportunity to develop their collection for an initial solo show. Candidates will submit their applications and the winner will be selected by a jury of three independent industry professionals/jewellers. The grant recipient will gain biweekly access to the facilities of Atelier Artéfact during a consecutive nine month period, and will receive technical assistance and guidance from instructors of the Montreal Academy of Metal Arts. They will also develop hands-on teaching experience, providing tech support during a six-week period as a Teaching Assistant. The nine-month program will culminate with a show followed by a one week pop-up gallery exhibit in Montreal, including a show catalogue as well as social media postings offered through Atelier Artéfact and the Montreal Academy of Metal Arts. Financial aid is included.
